As I sit in my recliner, recovering from surgery, I wonder: Is this what it’s like to be old? With the loss of mobility and long hours of reflection, I’m learning to let go of expectations and embrace this period of stillness. Inspired by teachings from Letting Go by David Hawkins and Gene Keys by Richard Rudd, this time has become one of deep self-discovery.

WoundCare Visit and Physical Therapy Dismissal, 9/16/24
A 2:30 PM wound care appointment brought difficult news—my doctor shared that he has never seen an infection heal with metal in place. Meanwhile, my 5:00 PM physical therapy session was cut short, as my PT decided to halt progress due to ongoing drainage and nerve pain. Despite the setbacks, I’m trying to find moments of progress and healing, especially during my evening physical therapy sessions, where I’ve incorporated conscious breathing, mindfulness, and music to transform my recovery into a holistic experience.
Finding Meaning Amidst the Struggle, 9/14/24
As I continue to recover from my hip surgery, I’m finding unexpected moments of reflection. Despite the unrelenting pain and the challenges of recovery, I’m beginning to see this time as a gift—an opportunity to unplug and reconnect with myself. From battling physical pain to moments of stillness and connection with family, today offered a glimpse into how struggle can lead to growth, learning, and healing.
